I decided to do this triathlon partly because it was The British Standard distance age group Championships but also
because the ITU World Triathlon series was taking pace featuring the Brownlee brothers. On arriving on Sunday my first
thought was WOW look at all those amazing bikes in transition ! I wasn’t sure how I could compete with that but I was
there to have fun ! The weather was cool and windy, the water was 16 but that didn’t put me off. Chatting to other
people in transition we all agreed the organisation had been excellent so far. There was plenty support on the swim and
strong arms to pull us out of the water. Long transition then off on what I thought was a challenging bike ride with wind
and hills. Local support was brilliant with many cries of GO BASSETLAW ! The run went from Roundhay Park into the city
center. Crowds of people cheering and encouraging me, on my tired legs. The very best part was running down the blue
carpet and over the finish line. I felt like a Superstar ! An amazing day, great organisation and a good finish of 2 nd in my

age group and silver medal. I will be back . Well done Leeds !!
